BRIEF BIO: At the time I purchased Thumper, I was living in a small apartment in Las Vegas and had just "inherited" 5 parakeets from a friend to start my flock. None of the 5 were a deep blue in color, and I am partial to blues. So I set out to PETCO on March 10 2006 to find the liveliest, friendliest blue bird in stock. That was NOT Thumper. It was actually Flower who won my heart that day, but Thumper came along for the ride because she was following Flower all over the cage in the store and I felt bad about separating them. I was actually planning to go shop 2 days later, as March 12 is the anniversary of when I purchased my first parakeet (Budgie) as a child about 30 years ago. But I went on the 10th because it SNOWED that day in Las Vegas (which NEVER happens), so I took it as a sign. When I brought Flower and Thumper home, their wings had been clipped in the store, so they could not fly. BUT my other 5 birds COULD Fly, so Thumper and Flower THOUGHT they could too. Thumper earned her name because she was about twice as fat as Flower and made a really loud THUMPing sound every time she jumped off of something high and crashed to earth. Thumper recently became a mommy of 3 after mating with Buzz Lightbeak, who was actually betrothed at the time to Prometheus. Prometheus had 15 babies with Buzz, and Thumper was suffering from mommy-envy the entire time. On several occasions Thumper and Prometheus got into bloody fights over Buzz, and Prometheus eventually succumbed to her wounds and passed on. So Buzz now grudgingly "services" Thumper, but his heart still seems to pine for Prometheus.
